What is Colla?
Colla is a "Thing Graph" collaboration tool. It organizes everything your team is working on — tasks, projects, decisions, hiring, customers, processes — along with the relationships between them, into a single navigable graph. No more switching between endless to-do lists and scattered documents.
What are Nodes and Edges?
A node is a "dot" in the graph, representing a specific thing, a person, or a file. An edge is a "line" connecting two nodes, representing dependency, causality, or grouping. The core idea of Colla: instead of tracking work as a list, build it as a graph.
What are the three relation types and how are they used?
contains: a parent thing contains a child thing — e.g., "Hiring Process" → "John's Interview".
causes: A leads to B, directional — e.g., "Performance Appeal" → "Departure Settlement".
related: two things are loosely related but without explicit dependency.
Limiting to three types is intentional: fewer semantics make team alignment easier and avoid over-modeling.
What are "AI Suggestions"? Will the AI modify my graph automatically?
No. Colla's built-in AI extracts possible new nodes or new relations from your uploaded documents, images, or existing nodes, and places them in a "pending review" queue. You accept or reject them one by one. The AI never modifies the graph without your approval.
How big should a single node be?
No hard rule — it's your call. Generally: any thing the team is actively pushing forward, with a clear sense of progress, deserves its own node. If it gets too big and contains several independent sub-tasks, break each sub-task into its own node and connect them via "contains". Colla encourages organizing as you go, not over-thinking granularity up front.
Organizations & Collaboration
How do I create an organization and invite members?
After signing up, click "Create Organization" on the main screen and enter a name. Then go to "Organization Settings → Member Management" and click "Invite Members". Enter the person's phone number or email to generate an invitation link. Once they sign up or log in, they're added to your organization.
How are roles and permissions structured?
Owner: the organization's creator, with full permissions. Can disband the organization or transfer ownership.
Admin: can invite/remove members and modify organization settings.
Member: can create and edit nodes and participate in collaboration, but cannot manage members.
Each organization can have multiple admins but only one owner.
How do I set node visibility?
In a node's detail panel, you can choose between three visibility settings: Organization-visible (all members of the organization can see), Private (only you can see), and Custom (you manually specify which members have access). You can set it when creating a node, or change it any time later.
How do I chat and @mention inside a node?
Open any node — its chat thread sits at the bottom. Type a message to send it. Typing @ opens a member picker; selecting someone highlights the message in their notification list. Chat supports read receipts (see who has read) and message recall (within a time window).
How do I start a voice/video call?
In the node's detail panel header, tap the "Call" icon to start a voice/video meeting. Members of the same node with access will receive a join prompt. Media streams are transmitted peer-to-peer between participants via WebRTC, and are not recorded or stored on our servers.
Where is my data stored?
All data (nodes, relations, chat messages, files, images) is stored on cloud servers within mainland China, with regular backups. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I export my graph data?
You can email us to request an export of all data in your account. After verifying your identity, we'll provide your nodes, relations, and chat records as structured files.

Is Colla free to use?
Colla offers both free and paid plans. Basic features are available for free, while larger organization sizes, higher AI suggestion quotas, and advanced admin features require a paid subscription.
What if I forget my password?
On the login page, click "Forgot Password" and enter the phone number or email you used to register. You'll receive a reset link or verification code.
How do I delete my account?
Go to "Settings → Delete Account" to request deletion. After deletion, the account can no longer log in; your private nodes and files will be deleted, and content you shared within organizations will be handled per the data retention policy (some content may be retained but your identity will be anonymized). The action is irreversible.
